RMweb Gold Barry Ten Posted February 14, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 14, 2021 Some may remember the 1/8th scale r/c Mustang that a friend and I have been working on during the last year: Now that the servos are all in place, and we know where things will fit, the fuselage has returned to me for fitting out of the cockpit. I found a nice, square-on image of a P51 instrument panel which my wife printed at various sizes until we had a good fit. I backed it onto plastic and glued it in place. I scratchbuilt the gyro gunsight with reference to photos and the Tamiya 1/32nd kit. My first attempt was too small and this one is still a bit undersized, but I feel it'll do once painted. The seat, control stick and bullet-proof screen were made up from plastic, foamcore and Milliput. It doesn't weigh much and nor does the pilot so shouldn't cause any difficulties. Behind the pilot I plan to mock up a suggestion of the radio equipment.
Philou
@NHY 581 Is that a photo (just above) of your motor? I suspect it's not you with your back to the camera - or is it? Cheers, Philip

I had the pleasure of riding the line when he was testing the Slate Wagons he had restored, I was in the Yellow Directors Saloon and felt every Sleeper. 13

RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 15, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 15, 2021 An unusual visitor to Mid-Wales. This 'Crompton' worked a military special from Marchwood to Llanddewi as far as Newport, where the booked W.R. loco had failed, so the S.R. crew were prevailed upon to conduct the W.R. crew as far as Capel Bethesda, from where an MoD loco took the train on up the light railway to Llanddewi. The 'Crompton' rests in the yard, whilst the crew have a well-earned break, prior to returning light engine and van to the Southern Region:
