Whilst the EFE Rail announcement is certainly interesting, (the tube train if irrelevant to me is very tempting!) I can’t help feeling a little underwhelmed with this announcement.

Has there been any update regarding when the 20/3s will arrive?

Get some perspective; they can't do everything for everyone every time!

I can understand that, but there was a lot hoping for another run of 90s. Always next time!

If you really did understand it you wouldn't post the typical 'nothing in it for me' style post.

Wow, two coaches for N scale and err apart from buildings that's it.

Mind you, salvation can be found on the EFE Rail thread thank goodness.

So they are releasing sound fitted before the regular ones? Oh Bachmann...

They're already announced though. These are the new announcements.

Yes. These sound fitted versions are in addition to the DCC ready versions which will be available in the next couple of months or so.

I did involuntarily break wind when I saw the price of the 1P tanks and am grateful for the clarity subsequently provided.

An unleaded example or two is on the list for Crimbo.

66117 is a good one for me, along with the JIAs on EFE I am pleased despite nothing on the wishlist as such being ticked. (JIAs would have been on the list if I had ever thought I would see them in this release though.)

The rumours of an upgraded 66 were just that then?

Hi Andy,

Thanks for providing the latest Bachmann news in one easy to find and read place as usual. EFE Rail was unexpected but sounds like a great initiative with Kernow. Nice to see some JIA’s as I never got any first time around.

The DB 66 is what I’m most pleased to see announced. I think they will fly out as it’s about the easiest loco to simply renumber and potentially add etched plates to create so many current locos. It’s a superb choice.

Cheers

Mark

Did these rumours come from a well-connected source with a good track record of insider knowledge or some bloke you don't know on the internet?

What do you think?

It was on the Hattons 66 thread, so I was skeptical at best about it.

Hi,

So will Hattons be able to stock EFE rail or did their non duplication agreement apply to all Bachmann owned brands?.

I think I read that Bachmann Europe set up a design office in Hong Kong. If so then maybe EFE Rail is one way to set up a parallel design route. The video mentioned EFE rail using the same standard research as Bachmann (UK?) so I guess that research is done outside of China.

Interesting releases considering the world uncertainty about Chinese relations with the rest of the world plus the effects of COVID.

I guess the EFE Trains Tube stock will use a variant of the mechanism fitted to the Class 117.

Regards

Nick

It's simply an educated guess on my part and happy to be corrected, but I cannot personally see any logic in Bachmann announcing an 'upgraded/retooled' 66 at the moment.  After all, who would then buy the trio of about-to-be-released variants of the original/old tooling at full price...

To make the above viable, either the old tooling would need to be sold at a significantly lower price, or any new version would have to be markedly [and perhaps prohibitively] more expensive than all existing models, both Bachmann and Hattons, thus risking being priced way above what the market finds acceptable...

I can't see it happening myself, at least not for a good while...

Assuming a standard reblowable chip and a decent speaker these are pretty reasonably priced I think. Certainly you'll struggle to get someone to sound fit 'professionally' for you at that price and small loco's aren't the easiest to sound fit at home.

The last I recall seeing on ones of Bachmann's lists was early-2021, or at best December this year.  And considering that painted samples have not long been revealed that would seem about right?

A lot of people seem to be forgetting that we've barely emerged from a global pandemic where pretty much every industry on the planet has shutdown for at least 3 months, resulting in inevitable setbacks in terms of income, manufacturing, delivery, investment etc, and likely many more months of uncertainty to follow.  Quite how another run of Class 90s, a newly-tooled and ready-to-roll off the production line Class 66 - or indeed any other all-new model could magically appear under such conditions is quite baffling, surely...?

If it's anything like the J72 then fitting sound looks easy peasy even to a luddite like me. All the gubbins is already installed. Just need to fit the chip.
