Advance notice, although you'll have to stay up late to see it; Light engine movement from Stewarts Lane to St Leonards on Monday/Tuesday; Gen - Rail-Record

Probably our ED, 73202.  It was out and about on some sort of jolly this afternoon too.

Something coming down from Vic to Chichester tomorrow via Dorking/Horsham and the Arun Valley. I assumed a railtour, but nothing is using the Southern half of Vic, so unless the work is literally in the station it seems odd. May head down for a nosey! Non story if ever there was one, sorry!

This is from the excellent Rail Record. It shows departing from VIC platform 2 on the SE via Brixton.....in the description it says Pullman....DB Cargo service...Diesel Loco timed for 75mph...

Saw it go through Christs Hospital (I know it’s not strictly freight but is isn’t the normal EMU)

Ha, I caught it at Billingshurst, and suspect Claude Dreyfus was at Pulborough! Arun Valley well covered!

I did indeed! Braved the cold wind to get a picture as well, but won't be able to upload until probably tomorrow. The Pullman is certainly an impressive looking set, and it is nice to see the two Pullman 67s. I guess it's one of those 'visit to a cathedral city' type day trips, although I can think of nicer days do go wandering around Chichester...

Yesterday GBRf worked into the Newhaven Aggregate Terminal. This was in addition to the Freightliner and DB workings.

It would appear to be a new working, although a path has been there for a while. Both FL and DB return workings have used an earlier departure in the past.

According to Rail Record (many thanks) class 66s through Lewes yesterday were…

FL 66617 - 0342 Acton T.C. to Newhaven Day Aggs (Flhh)

1218 Newhaven Day Aggs (Flhh) to Acton T.C.

GBRf 66736 - 0410 Tonbridge West Yard Gbrf to Newhaven Marine Ag Tml Dbc

1050 Newhaven Marine Ag Tml Dbc to Thorney Mill Gbrf

66135 - 0933 Neasden Engineers Sdgs to Newhaven Marine Ag Tml Dbc

2233 Newhaven Marine Ag Tml Dbc to Neasden Engineers Sdgs

PLUS (albeit not a freight working) ……

66791 & 66793   T&T  -  1158 Tonbridge West Yard Gbrf to Tonbridge West Yard Gbrf (DN outward)

1158 Tonbridge West Yard Gbrf to Tonbridge West Yard Gbrf (UP return)

Great to see 66791, the ex Norwegian (CargoNet / CargoLink) T66404….IMHO it would be fantastic if GBRf could, in recognition of their primary operational origin, name the ex Nordic 66s after Norse Gods…..

and 66793, it was ex 29004 and the first time I saw it she was in Beacon Rail Blue, named Dave Meehan, and was in Tostedt, Germany on a civils ballast train. I remember thinking that it was so weird seeing a 66 named ‘Dave’ in Germany. Now of course she is in ‘Neo BR Railfreight Construction’ livery.

Great to see busy times for freight and locos on the bottom of Central Division, especially after so many many years of next to nothing in East Sussex.

66793 and 66791 drop down Hamsey bank towards Lewes yesterday.

This was taken by my son last Friday.

66793 at Hamsey crossing on the Up. 1050 ex Newhaven Marine Ag Tml Dbc to Neasden Charrington Gbrf. Sadly the light was poor and the sun was low and didn’t make for good photos as the train approached.

66793 was on the same working today, according the RailRecord (many thanks)

Also, in case anyone is interested, FL 59101 is floating around on the 1218 ex Newhaven Day Aggs (Flhh) to Acton T.C.

IMHO 66793 looks good in this Neo BR Construction sector livery. Particularly as it has now weathered in a bit.

Plate 2 looks pretty good to me!  Nice composition, and a beautiful blue sky.  'Glare' but not 'flare' on the loco side, and the colours and front still discernable.  Lovely; wish I had been there.  Splendid work.
