I have just created pre-group smoking transfers. RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted August 24, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 24, 2020 Which railways do you think they are suitable for? Presumably initially Southern ones. And I assume only post 1868 when Parliament made smoking compartments mandatory. Or did some companies allow smoking earlier (God's Wonderful Railway definitely did not and at least one of the South Wales companies asked for a derogation though it was refused). Skinnylinny
Zooming in, the top transfer is the etched "bar" (full window length) for LB&SCR carriages, while the lower one is for LSWR carriage windows. I believe the GWR used a similar style to the LB&SCR for some carriages (the preserved railmotor has such) as did the Great Eastern. I don't know enough about other companies to comment. 1
