RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted August 28, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 28, 2020 Does anybody have any advice on chemical treatment of nickel-silver rails to give a rusty hue on the rail tops? I've tried Birchwood Casey 'Gun Blue' which works well but does leave rather a bluish finish. Rusting is required on a short and infrequently used siding. The Birchwood stuff seems not to inhibit loco pick up. I am aware that these selenium based fluids are highly poisonous.
Quarryscapes
Which one are you using? I've found that the Brass Black tends to go a nice dark rusty brown on Nickel SIlver 1

It was the only one as far as I can remember that was available in the model trade back then.
