sir douglas
Last year saw some good relations between WHHR and FWHR with Russel going up to Beddgelert in May and June, Russel (owned by WHHR) was planned to attend the FWHR "Hunslet 125" event in 2018 but didnt show, this time there was much delight to the enthusiasts of it running through Aberglaslyn pass once more with a photo opportunity at Beddgelert side by side with a privately restored Baldwin acting in the role of "590" 1
RMweb Gold papagolfjuliet Posted October 14, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 14, 2023 Bit of news: Peter Best, owner of NGG16 No.130 (and 44806 and 2253 and 31 466) has very generously donated the Garratt to the Ff&WHR.
RMweb Gold papagolfjuliet Posted Saturday at 07:42 RMweb Gold Share Posted Saturday at 07:42 A group of Boston Lodge volunteers have been very quietly building a replica de Winton - named 'Panad' - for the past several years (because just sort of casually building a new steam engine in your spare time without telling anybody is the kind of wondrous thing Boston Lodge does) and although the odd photo has appeared on Facebook this is I think the first official announcement. https://www.pressreader.com/uk/steam-railway-uk/20240501/282041922057167
RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted Saturday at 07:59 RMweb Gold Share Posted Saturday at 07:59 "Panad" is a good name chosen by the group , basically " cup of tea" ideally suited to a vertical bolier - here it falls a part as they are oft likened "coffee pot" but why let that get in the way ! It is good that some of the "volunteers" are full time staff on days off, says a lot on the motivations and satisfactions of the railways human core. To say nothing of the skills learnt and exchanged - all good future proofing the TLC. Robert
