Yep it was 37716.......my Mrs was at Ely on her sign off run with XC when the 37 came in towing a wee bit of that errant failure that caused some chaos in the region!

Guy

Thanks for confirming. It's brilliant to see 37s on the mainline in 2020, especially rescuing other locos and stock. Who would ever have thought it!?

716 has had a busy week with the route learners/refreshers and it had a trip to York and back to Stowmarket with three RHTT sets.

Kind Regards,

Danny.

Cheers Danny

We have 059, 069 and 218 at the moment not sure what else we are getting.  All the 4s are supposed to be safe but who knows

You're more than welcome my friend. Good to hear that 059 and 069 will be back in use with DRS after been on hire to Loram Rail Operations. I hope all of the 37/4s are safe and it would be brilliant to see 405 return, especially for the Stowmarket RHTTs, and it's the last active Compass liveried DRS 37, now that 259 has been stored.

Kind Regards,

Danny.

Could have done with the North West RHTT a couple of days ago.

68027 with a heavy 6K05 Carlisle-Crewe - stalled in the cutting with "loss of adhesion" at the bottom of Langho bank.

It's quite a regular spot - a cutting with lots of overhanging trees - that claims at least one victim each year.

I wonder if this will run tomorrow or Monday?

The Yorkshire circuit has run this morning,  with 37402 & 37423 running to Sheffield via Barnsley and back.

Maybe last year WAS the last year of the 20's !!

Cheers,

Phil.

There is a 20 parked alongside the Holgate works, but it hasn't moved for months.

That will be DRS 20303, which I believe has issues with it's wheelsets and has been stabled their for almost a year now.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Danny.

3J11 off Carlisle and routed everywhere around the Northwest is supposedly starting today.

Kicked off with the usual fare of a pair of 66s today.

It passes my house twice - both times under cover of darkness. It passes work twice also - once during daylight hours. I shall endeavour to see it in a clean condition.

On today as well.

Understand that as Wombwell Station road overbridge was replaced earlier this year there's no clearance problems there now so 37's are OK over the stretch of line.

One of the changes to this years RHTT schedule operated by Direct Rail Services in this part of West Yorkshire is that one of the Mon/Wed/Fri diagrams is in daylight.

Only day 2 of this years RHTT season here and 37402 and 37423, working 3S14 11.16 Grimsby Town to Bridlington, are already showing the unmistakable signs of 'RHTT weathering' as they put in an appearance at Deighton on their way to Huddersfield...

...and after a reversal at Huddersfield with 37423 now leading, 3S14 passes back through Deighton.

Where’s that location if you don’t mind me asking? Somewhere up towards Barnsley? Worsborough?

They are heading towards Wombwell station which is about half a mile in front of them. Picture at Smithley on the road bridge over the line.

They have added the Kirkgate to Huddersfield bit into last year's run. Makes it an hour later now into South Yorks.

It wasn't clean - even on the first run.

66301 (and 66430) heading north after a long night around the North West.

After only 2 trips, they've been replaced by 68005/033 (I shall try and see them at the same location tomorrow)

Understand the first casualty of the season is 37402, replaced by 37716.

It was 402 & 423 that went to Sheffield this morning.

A few more of the current pairing of DRS 37402 and 37423 working 3S14, 11.16 Grimsby Town to Bridlington, at Colne Bridge on 7th October 2020 heading to Huddersfield to reverse...

...and heading away from Huddersfield after reversal...

...probably not altogether surprising, but it sounds from my video here that one of the wheelsets on the RHTT wagons has picked up a wheelflat.
