No problemo I have a stack of these models hoping to do the same conversion so wanted to ensure I get the cutting right. Mine will be ex-Salt in aggregates use for my Speedlow layout along with some 'Baby Salt' PGAs and other PGA wagons known to have worked in the Buxton area late 80s early 90s.

PGA Cutting Guide

 

You make two new wagons from three original wagons as follows:

 

Cutting the bodies

 

For two of the original bodies, cut as follows to give you 4 x part A

 

 

For one other original body, cut as follows to give you 2 x part B:

 

 

 

Each of the two new bodies is now made using Part A + Part B + Part A thus lengthening each wagon by 8mm and removing the central hopper divider.

 

Cutting the chassis

 

For two of the chassis, cut as follows:

 

 

For one other chassis, cut out 4 x part E, discarding the other parts:

 

 

Now make two chassis from the parts in the order: part C, part E, part D, part E, part C, thus lengthening the new chassis by 8mm.

 

Good luck with making your PGAs.

Oh, the agony, doing something I don't like, subscription magazines (blame my parents) 
There were no BRM's on the shelf yesterday or today either according to my scouts.
So I don't know were all these BRM readers are in the wild west....

Interesting comments re getting print copies of October 2020 BRM, tried 1 Smiths, 2 Tesco and 1 Sainsburys and none has had a copy. 

I used to subscribe, but when the shop copies had gifts, but the subscribers were given DVDs I cancelled my subscription, I didn't need two copies.

Thanks for the second part of the article in the November issue.

 

I can tell you one thing regarding the BULK SALT lettering the actual font is Grotesque No. 9, this was confirmed to me by one of the model transfer producers some years ago. I had some numbersets made up for the Procor PSA open mineral wagons that were numbered in the PR 255xx range that had the same style of lettering as on the Salt PGAs.

 

I have six donor Lima PGAs now ready to make a start on cutting though will need to adapt or find a deeper mitre block to cut the bodyshells up.
