RMweb Premium newbryford Posted September 9, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 9, 2020 Testing Testing Understanding Britains Test Trains Rail testing from 1960s to Now. A bookazine £8.99 direct from the Key Publishing or the likes of WH Smith. Ordered on a Friday from Key Publishing, received the following Tuesday so no complaints about the service. A typical Colin Marsden driven publication which over the years, I've come t like his style of presentation. I haven't had chance to read it properly yet, but it appears to be a very useful resource for anyone modelling test trains from 1960 onwards. Whilst a decent chunk of it is yellow, it starts with a look at the inception of the RTC and finishes off with an appraisal of preserved ex-test stock. It cannot profess to cover every and all things "test" but provides more than a taster for anyone with a leaning towards the more unusual stuff. I look forward to a proper study of it at my leisure during some planned downtime next week. (I couldn't see our own Mr Tilt in there though!) Cheers, Mick 2
EddieB
Yes, I saw copies in Smith’s and couldn’t resist - particularly as the yellow trains have provided something of a diversion during present restrictions. It may not go into masses of technical detail, but an excellent summary of how testing developed, and then from 1960 onwards, what there was, is and what is does. Although much of the text and many photographs are the work of Anthony Christie, who has made this subject a specialism, once again the breadth of coverage provided by Colin Marsden himself is impressive.
