NOW CONFIRMED AS SEPTEMBER 4TH and 5TH

We are HOPING to go ahead with South Notts show in 2021, albeit in a socially distanced format and reduced in size.  There WILL be a few traders, but to limit the number of people running things and to create space for wider gangways etc we've had to cut the number of layouts to 12, with more of an emphasis on layouts from Bingham Club.

This all depends on being allowed 100 in a single gathering by the time we are due to go ahead.  in the mean time having caught a £600 cold with the 2020 cancellation we'll not be spending money until the last possible moment....

I'll be contacting layout owners who were due to come last year plus the five already pencilled in for 2021 to try to rebook for 2021, 2022 and 2023....

Ironically a discussion with an exhibitor at the last show I attended before lockdown concerned what might be the next show to take place, he was suggesting it would be Cotgrave but I don’t think he had 2021 in mind!

i wish you every success with this and look forward to it.

We've moved the date.

I had a long discussion with Holly, the manager of Cotgrave Welfare when we signed the lease on Bingham MRC's new clubroom and we've decided to move the show back into a safer time period.  Mid May is generally a quiet time in the East Midlands and the Welfare had a weekend available, so as the club and the welfare could both do with the income getting a date where things are more likely to happen is more important than sticking to our usual week.

the new dates are

15th and 16th May, 2021.

Still socially distanced with a one-way system for the venue and bigger gangways but it should be achievable.

Next job is to get traders and a few layouts on board.  I'll post details as I have them confirmed.

LAYOUTS CONFIRMED

Bregenbach

Horse Cove

Resby Junction

Cumanavago

Newton Folly

with seven more out there (6 known and one to find)

There will be a few layouts that are new to the circuit- never seen before.

Of course this still depends on us being allowed 100 in the venue at one time- watch this space!

Les

(in the meantime I'm spending no money.....)

We now have a backup date booked in September, just in case Boris doesn't allow Cotgrave Welfare to open early enough for the May date...

However, it is still May.  I'm still not spending money...

More layouts

Soarston

Hazelby Ballast Loader

Silverwood Colliery.

that makes five layouts so far not seen  before.....

Good to see this is still a possibility and fingers crossed enough progress is made in the wider world to allow it to go ahead.

There’s clearly a desire to go ahead and it deserves to succeed, It could well be the first show of the pandemic/ post pandemic era and I’m looking forward to it.

Cotgrave Welfare are keen for us to have a show this year.  They need the income more if anything than we do.  And as our new clubroom landlords it always helps to keep them happy.

Traders confirmed-

Sherwood Models

Book Law Publications

These two for the May or the September date

Malc's Models (Ilkeston) , May date but not September he thinks.

Three more to approach then try out the floor plan.  Still not spending money yet.

TRADERS CONFIRMED

Book Law

Sherwood Models, Nottingham

A2B Models, Matlock Bath

J&C Models, East Goscote,

Starlight Models, Wellingborough

Malc's Models, Ilkeston

A shorter list than we would normally have but we're still working on gangways and space.  There might be room for a seventh but that gives us three model shops selling ranges of mainly new and a good understanding of what each other do (helps to avoid too much duplication), one second hand specialist, one selling entirely kits and bits and one book seller.

I'm retiring as show manager (after 6 years) at the club's next AGM and Mark Shipman is taking over.  This year's show will be a joint effort- Mark and I sing off the same hymn sheet in most respects regarding shows.  We are going to have a garden meeting in the next couple of weeks to get the final plan together and we should then have a workable floor plan.

This year there will be more demonstration stands than in previous years.

And we STILL haven't laid out any money yet.....

All for now

I thoroughly enjoyed bringing my A2B Model Railways trade stand to the 2019  show. After last year’s cancellation, I am looking forward to returning in 2021. It is a very friendly show.

Wider gangways, one way system, masks as required, frequent sanitising of surfaces, expected that there is unlikely to be more than about 150 punters in at any time (which is our usual number for this show- highest attendance for the weekend is still less than 800).  Investigating tables outside to eat at - I'll have to discuss that with the caterers.

Nothing too tragic.  Slightly smaller show than last time- three fewer layouts and four fewer traders, with admission prices a little lower to compensate.

We've finally got the iZettle software on a club-owned phone and talking to the card reader, and via the Welfare's Wifi to the club's bank.  Not only that but we've worked out how to do refunds.

Contactless is go!

Not now my decision, thankfully, though I'm not sure we can legally enforce it.  I don't want to bring it up and scare the committee, some of whom have been in all manner of panic throughout the process.  We are just about settled on what we are doing and it is no longer my boat to rock (thank goodness......)

We have screens!

Two screens to put up at the payment desk to keep our people from breathing on the punters.  All we need to do is work out how to mount them on the tables we have without damaging the tables.

The Welfare have removed the huge bar structure that was along one wall of the entrance hall.  We'll have to re-plan that area, which also includes the toilets.

There will be no club sales stand this year- with eight club or club members layouts we haven't enough spare bodies to man it...

A poor pic (I took it- Andy Y took a much better set) of Ashtown, which will be on the main hall level.

IMG_3900.JPG.d7cca316aca4fb55fc0d851b87c6c85f.JPG

A better picture of Bregenbach im Schwarzwald, which will be on the balcony upstairs.
