Could you hinge it at the layout end?

Then it couldn't swivel between all the three Tracks on the Fiddle Yard that feed all four on the main Board Ray.

Remember, at the pivot end, there will still be a nail to act as the pivot for it to swing around and line up with appropriate tracks on the Main Board.

Very much like the idea of this, Andy, looking forward to seeing things develop.

If you're connecting to a colliery, how about permitting NCB locos to run to the main line with exchange traffic?

That's a thought for later, at the moment I only had the funds for the one Loco so at present I'm assuming the Budoc Bridge Branch to the Colliery is about 5 Miles long.

The second Loco be it Steam or Diesel would certainly add even more interest.:good:

Keep it diesel, keep it diesel keep it diesel... Any NCB locos could be Class 14 ex-WR hydraulics.

That's food for thought, I fancy Blue or Red but not the 14 I'm afraid mate.

A little done this morning, and now that's probably it until Monday.

So the first job was to take the top off the Main part of the Board and cut a big notch to take the switches.

The Red one on the right will be for the Programming Track which will be the Siding nearest the front of the board. The other 4 switches are for the Points.

Then a start was made in Laying the Track, All the droppers that I should need apart from the Programming Track are fitted to the Points.

I also started inserting the Neo Magnets, and testing the Kadee couplings. Just another 6 to go in next week.

Watching with interest. Of course as a colliery exchange it could the somerset coal field  - modellers license etc,  or South Wales. Of course you could also base it in the Forest of Dean and make do with a 22 and 37.

btw Andy are you planning to add this thread to your signature?

regards.

Thanks Philip and Hi, Yes the Forest of Dean dose have a certain something, as does the old Somerset and Dorset. I do fancy a 22, then I could run it as Scottish with my 27, or anywhere Western Region with a 22.

By being none descript I do have an infinite variety of Motive power I could call upon some day.

As for attaching to my Signature, I will message Andy Y in the morning. I cant do it, because there is a limit to the number you can add without going through Admin, and I do seem to have quite a few, in fact Andy has already removed about 6 or more.:o

Where did your Neo Magnets come from Andy, and can I be awkward and ask the size of them? Difficult to tell from the photos. I'm looking for some permanent magnets for this N gauge project in the hidden sidings.  I am assuming they were a good old eBay purchase?

Hi Rich, Just been out in the Garage and they are 20mm x 10mm x 2mm and I bought these from China about 5 years ago.

Just found these on E-Bay.

Yes I use First4magnets too.  They have a vast range in all manner of shapes and sizes.

I highly recommend them, just a very satisfied customer, they're great on customer service too.

Best

Cheers Dragonboy and Barnaby, you have both reminded me that I bought some small round ones from them a year or two ago, and yes, great service and price if I remember correctly.:good:

Will an obviously smaller Lazy Joe be making an appearance?

He'd be a giant on a 4mm layout and as such would not be able to hide but ... maybe make some easy money via "appearances at".

Hopefully work will commence again tomorrow on here as I spent most of this morning doing more pics on Seven Mills.

I need a trip to Alton Models as well tomorrow, and I've picked up some Point Motors on Flea Bay this evening, so we are getting there very slowly.

Maybe even some fresh pics tomorrow.:)

On the way home from a successful visit to Alton Models this morning I called in to Ropley. Goodness me, it has changed since I was last there, with new Holiday Lets and a Glamping site, but I did get a few pics, but was jets getting back inti the Car when a Steamer came in from Aylseford and I didn't see what it was, so if anyone knows please post on here, Thanks.

Anyway, some pics that have given me ideas for my next small project.

Anyway, some bits were pur chas ed, and here are a few pics basically it was 2 more 16T Minerals, 2 Vans, and some walling, plus some other bits and pieces.

I'm not convinced about the walling yet, I may need to trim a bit off the bottom to bed it in better. but I'll worry about that once the Ballasting etc. is completed.
