The NR ones look like theyve been robbed of their dignity.

Look a bit sad without all the cabling... a bit like an unloved track machine.

Are this pair still active ?

Never seen them down south.

I have seen them in Woking yard a few times over the last few years - not often granted.

Carl Watson's website is your friend (also), with 952 arriving on the 16th of September for further electrical / third rail testing. However, their appearance in the south have been rare.

The pair are frequently at Ashford, parked up on the sidings by the line to Hastings. My eldest gets excited and screams ‘MINION TRAINS!!’ every time he sees them there.

Last month in South Croydon.

I think these would be very interesting to model, they've covered most of the country, are a favourite for railtours... last night they even went through Thameslink.

Tonbridge is there hang out, on a sunday morning, theres been a bunch of them (and 73/1 & (73/2).

i’ll be in for 4... CS x2 and GBRF x2.

There is somthing about these locos which looks a bit surreal

Did not one of the CS Class 73/9’s get used at Wembley for Mk5 testing?  If I was going to get one, I’d either run it light engine as several ran to and from Scotland to Eastleigh.  You could also get a Mk5 set along with a CS 73/9 and in your world, it’s being used “on test”.

Proof that 73/9’s go where anything else fears to tread...

This video has exactly doubled the number of Youtube videos filmed Belmont station... The only other video was Londonists 3 years ago... putting Belmont as Londons 10th least used station in the country... proof 73/9’s will go anywhere.

Proposed Specification:

Fully detailed Lighting Pack, including:

Switchable red tail lights

Firstly, I'm really excited by this announcement and wish you the very best of luck with the project.  :)

Secondly, a question regarding the lighting specification, in that as these locomotives more often than not operate in pairs, and equally often as top-and-tail, will the red tail lights be operational at the rear end only of the locomotive?

thanks

Al

I would expect they'll be fully switchable so each light can be accessed by the decoder on DCC if the other AS models are anything to go by.

The NR 73/9s are mainly used for infrastructure monitoring trains around the Merseyrail area, with the GBRf locos primarily used for the Southern Region runs.  The Colas crews generally sign both, however, and they do occasionally swap over.

Happy New Year to everyone!

This project is something we're very excited about! The notes of interest are going very well, and now the festivities are over, we'll be able to do a bit more work on moving this forward.

In the meantime, please tell everyone you can think of who may be interested!

This is brilliant news and pleased to hear of things moving forward.

My interest is in the Caley Sleeper examples but all round I think you'll be on to a winner.

The forthcoming Accurascale Mk5 Sleepers should help to ensure this.

Cheers,

Mark

Indeed, a place that combines two of Britain's biggest hobbies, golf and railways. The bridge in the distance is at Golf Street station.

Personally I would have thought railways was quite a marginal hobby really?

There was a time in the past when they were in the top three (and golf wasn't), football and fishing were the other two. Golf then leapt to the top and other "new hobbies" came along. Despite all the "trainspotter jokes", railways (when considering all its form such as modelling, preservation, bashing etc.) is still very popular in the UK.

Quite interesting really, although probably not for here I guess!

I thought football would be a big one, but perhaps with gardening!

Accurascale have shown us the excellent Caley Mk5 sleeper carriage samples which have broken cover today.

Now's the time to get on board with these 73/9's to go with them.. ;)
