RMweb Gold TravisM Posted October 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 17, 2020 I’m trying to find out which was the last Class 60 to remain in Railfreight triple grey and still carrying it’s original sector decals and nameplates. I seem to remember seeing 60054 at Westbury around 2007/8, still in triple grey, carrying it’s Petroleum decals and it’s “Charles Babbage” nameplate. I lost the pictures of it when I later uploaded them onto my fotopic site, and when it went t*ts up, taking my pictures with it . I was wondering if 60054 was the last untouched Class 60 or was there another example that lasted a bit longer?
Simon Bendall
60054 was indeed the last, survived until 2011 when stopped for overhaul.
RMweb Premium Davexoc Posted October 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 18, 2020 60054 was the last in petroleum, I think 60057 may have been (one of) the last in coal sector, but only as late as 2006. After that most sucummbed to the big beastie stickers. There were quite a few 3g with various different brandings, Transrail, Loadhaul and hybrids.
