Sussex Engineman
Does anybody know where I can get some 1.5mm/1/16" double-sided PCB? I bought some off the internet labelled as such which turned out to single sided. I bought my last stuff from Maplins back in the good old days. Eileens Emporium only stocks 0.25mm. Any suggestions welcome.
Pete the Elaner
I can't think how double-sided tracked board would be useful, so I assume you mean plain board which you etch yourself? www.rapidonline.com sell this, probably for a fraction of the price Maplin's sold it for. RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted October 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 18, 2020 I use my rapidly dwindling supply of double sided pcb for pickup plates - I can solder them to the frames and mount pickup wires on the other side. I would very much like to find a source of some more.
RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted October 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 18, 2020 Try Googling “Railroom Electronics” They are a regular trader at our Stafford Exhibition and he does mail order as I’ve used them a couple of times during lockdown Hope it helps Terry
NIK
Hi, You could also try RS, Farnell and CPC (postal charges may be a bit high at the moment). I think 1.6mm is a standard thickness. Regards Nick
RMweb Gold SHMD Posted October 18, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 18, 2020 I recently bought 10 sheets from Farnell, although they only sell the single sided Copper Clad sheets. Ebay and Amazon also sell the stuff. (When I'm in Germany, I usually nip into the nearest CONRAD store. They sell the stuff plus load of other bits too. It's like Maplins but with really good stuff!) If you want quality GRP PCBs, and not a cardboard type of internal substrate, then ensue that there is "FR4" in the description. Double sided FR4 PCBs are stronger and flatter. Coper clad PCBs have a wealth of uses and not just an interconnecting circuit for electronics. It's very strong and can be used for decoration (after being worked) and for Structural work too. Roofs, walls, cabinets, track, baseboard track alignment fixtures, jigs... Here's some I made earlier (with loads more uses planned): - Kev.
