SGF
Can anyone help with locating the locomotive records, and hopefully drawings of R & W Hawthorn? Most of those I can locate refer to the later ship building records. I am looking for details of an 0-4-0T locomotive, works number 958 of 1856. It was named Havilah, and ordered by the Edenham Branch Railway. There was a photograph of it in The Locomotive Magazine in 1908: Thanks, SG
slilley
Hi SG I did this search on the National Archives website in their catalogue, which picks up material held elsewhere and there is quite a lot out there. It looks like the NRM Search Engine which is due to reopen in November could be where some of theirpapers are held. The date parameters I set for when the loco you depicted was built. https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_p=1900&_q=R+%26+W+Hawthorn Best wishes Simon Edited October 19, 2020 by slilley
SGF
Hi Simon, I too had looked in the Tyne and Wear archives via the NA search, but you seem to have been more successful. The NRM archive looks to be the best bet at the moment, once it opens. Many thanks for your help. SG
