James J
Hello- this is my first topic and not one I'd have liked to by my first but here goes... I've wanted to start off my proper kitbuilding with something quite cheap but of substance, and I found the McGowan V3 on the dreaded site. It has arrived today with everything sealed nicely, however there are no instructions. Could anyone help out with this? I thought this was quite a big problem, until I checked the parts. As you can see on the picture, the two biggest by far are the side tanks, but they look nothing like those of the V3, and more like a large LMS or BR tank. Any thoughts? Look forward to some help, James Edited November 8, 2020 by James J
RMweb Gold Bucoops Posted October 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2020 Those sides do indeed look wrong If no-one else has found some by 5:30 I will see if I can find my set of instructions.
RMweb Gold Asterix2012 Posted October 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2020 Might be better off returning to the seller and getting a refund Those sides are not for a V1/V3 1
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted October 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2020 Back of the coal bunker (3rd bag) does not look right to me either. Perhaps all the parts are for something else!
Darryl Tooley
The roof (also in the third bag) has way larger cut-outs than were ever used on the V1/V3. Everything that I can make out looks as if it belongs to an Ivatt 2MT. D 1
RMweb Gold Bucoops Posted October 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2020 Pictured of instructions to follow but here is the contents of my kit:
RMweb Gold Bucoops Posted October 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2020 Instructions. Apologies but I don't have a scanner - and going by your photos the instructions may not be much use to you
James J
Wow- thank you all for replies- what an amazing site this is! I've been suspecting the same about the sides, yes perhaps an LMS or BR 2MT. I'll contact the seller and either get a refund, get the name and instructions of the kit I've actually been given or retrieve the missing parts Thank you again, I'll keep everyone updated whether you like it or not James
James J
Would anyone agree it could possibly be the contents of a wizard models kit?
James J
Does anyone recognise these kit pieces for an Ivatt 2mt tank? I'm requiring some instructions. Note the 2 cab (roofs/rooves - never known) Edited October 20, 2020 by James J
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted October 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 20, 2020 Looks like a Ks kit to me - I have one .. it is very old kit... if you want to build it I can scan a copy of the instructions. Wizard only do ex Comet loco kits though.. and Andrew wouldn't let these castings out with his name on them! Baz 2
James J
Interesting- and that would be of great help, thank you so much. I thought I'd rather get half a refund, and quite a large tank to build up.
RMweb Premium Blandford1969 Posted October 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 20, 2020 That is a K's Ivatt 2-6-2 - body kit, I had one once a long time ago, but got rid of it
Steamport Southport
Yes. The extra bits are so you can make the BR 2MT 2-6-2T instead. I have a feeling they sold some of them on the shrink-wrapped cardboard packs. Possibly the previous owner has put them in an old box for safe keeping. The Comet Ivatt 2MT chassis should fit it though and would be better than an original K's version. Baz Sorry if I was unclear - I would love a scan of the instructions please because I have decided to build it ( whilst getting a half refund because of the confusion- not bad! ) along with the comet chassis. Being new to kit building, there's no doubt it'll look like Crewe outsourced to Wonky Works when kit comes to the wheels
