Maybe a spell in a darkened room with the lovely sounds of a Castle, King, 28XX....etc would be good for your current state Spammers,

you know you want to !

Price point is close to Heljan's variant . An AEC railcar is very tempting , Dapol vs Heljan though

Heljan RRP £549 (Says easy to fit DCC so presumably DC only)

Dapol RRP £350 for DC model.

I’d say the price points were very different...

and ironically it is the one whose pricepoint is at the lower end that actually turns out the more accurate models.

Very happy to see this. Really like the Art Deco style of these, despite them being diesels. Toyed with buying a OO one despite no intention of ever building anything it could run on just because I like them.

So, yay!

Better save some money.

All the best

I'm sure i've seen a much lower price for Heljan , more the £420 mark . It could be my eyes and memory failing

edit , no they weren't ! https://www.hattons.co.uk/newsdetail.aspx?id=586 £466 though

This looks very good indeed. I only have a very small O gauge demonstration line but I will certainly be tempted.

On the price point issue, if Dapol can get this to market at around £300, one wonders if they will be increasingly  tempted to take on Heljan in the modern mainline diesels market too? The interior detail suggests the railcar might be more expensive to produce than, say, a class 47.

My dithering on the Heljan/Dapol railcars has reached a conclusion . Dapol pannier 9669 will join fellow stablemate 7714 and allow further steam era recreations . Lovely as both railcars are i concluded on a higher play value with a pannier tank

It appears that Dapol are keeping their factory sound versions to themselves this time, and not allowing their resellers to have them. This is a departure from all their other O gauge releases. I may have to wire up my first DCC chip now...
