Allied to the main Bachmann summary topic -

EFE Rail is already becoming an established name on the shelves of Bachmann retailers and there are new additions in both OO and N scale this Winter, with models of two different wagons – the Shark Brake Van and JIA Bogie Hopper – being made available in ready-to-run format in N scale for the first time.

Full details of these Winter announcements are featured in the British Railway Announcements catalogue which is available exclusively with the Bachmann Times – the official magazine of the Bachmann Collectors Club – and these products are set to be released during the next three months and can be ordered from any Bachmann stockist.

  • AY Mod changed the title to EFE Rail Winter 2020 Announcements - Beattie Well Tank, Gate Stock, Class 58, Cargowaggons plus 2 new N gauge projects.

Surprised to see the Beattie and Gate stock - presuem Kernow are licensing the tooling to Bachmann/EFE as when first produced, Kernow were very clear this was KMRC owned tooling  (and hence the shift from Dapol to DJM for second Beattie batch) - hope they didn't get put in the 'DJM box for resale' by mistake....?

It was originally the Heljan 58.

Does this mean Heljan have sold the tooling to Bachmann? Or they are being produced by Heljan for EFE rail as a means of broadening distribution? Similarly on the Hymek.

That's correct.

No need for daft statements. Kernow MRC own the tooling.

Nice to see the Well Tanks back and in new liveries, I think last time round they only ever did unlined black.

And a re-run of Gate Stock.

This EFE thing is quite good - who expected 58s to make a re-appearence.

Sharks and Mermaids - another big tick.

This page has all the good announcements!!

It's unfortunate they could not have been more competitively priced for an old tooling. I wonder if there are any upgrades against the Heljan version still available at Olivias Trains that appear to have been slow sellers?

At least the number font on the Railfreight liveried version looks right now.

Sorry!

Good to hear the original commissioners are still involved and tha the models are getting a wider marketing avenue.

Does anyone know if the JIAs are the same as those used between Tees Dock and Boulby Mine?

Are they the potash ones? If so, no, they’re subtly different, but I’ve got a 3D print of those.

Bit gutted I spent 6 months on my JIA 3D prints, but hey ho, I used the right font on the Imerys logo and didn’t miss out bits of the handrails!

Do we now have two N gauge Shark brakevans with the KR Models one?

I doubt it as one exists and the other does not...

This is great news though - can anyone explain the dates of the Black and Bauxite Shark liveries?

EDIT: Being dumb, Eras are on the Rails images!

Especially after our resident hobby expert on another thread told us we wouldn’t see them for at least ten years! :sarcastichand:

I think the clever announcement in this set in particular is the 58. With three manufacturers producing HAA variants, the availability of a pretty good 58 for those trains is likely to be well received.

Indeed, but for an old timer there is only the 47/3 for an MGR and it must be on jointed track - none of that continuous welded stuff for me.

I have the impression that Olivia's strategy is to not to rush and sell theirs but to get the maximum markup possible.  They are pretty much gone else where though admittedly the last one I brought was in a clearance sale a couple of years back.
