Bachmann Class 350 - What Decoder To Buy?

Hi all, I have a LM Class 350 I want to convert to DCC. What 21 pin guagemaster decoder should I buy?

Neither, you want a £20 Zimo MX638 from the likes of Digitrains, Youchoos or Coastaldcc (amongst others)

Totally agree - Zimo MX638.  Just about the best 21-pin non-sound decoder and at a great price too. I have them in all my Bachmann EMUs - 4-CEPs, 2-EPBs etc.

I would also choose a Zimo. They work well 'out of the box' & if you really need to change settings, there are very configurable.

I agree with the recommendations for Zimo. Good budget price for a premium decoder.

Having said that, two of my 350s have ESU LokSound v3.5 decoders fitted with legomanbiffo sounds. These two have both been turned into class 450s with vinyl overlays. The biggest problem with those is there is not room for a decent speaker.

A Bachmann 450 and a 350/1 both have Lenz Silver 21-pin decoders fitted, also a very good decoder but bought and fitted before the budget Zimo decoders were available. If I was doing it now I would certainly go the Zimo route.

Yep, as a rule the answer to “which Gaugemaster decoder should I buy?” Is always “the Zimo one”.
