jazzer
I am building a fairly standard branch terminus with bay platform and a main platform with a run round loop. I am only electrifying three or perhaps four points, that is on the loco release loop and possibly the bay . I would like to fix it so first two, points on the loco release operate simultaneously as per the real thing. Do I need a CDU for them to operate reliably together and should they be wired to the same SPDP switch or separate switches operated together? Thanks in advance for your advice. Administrators Phil Parker Posted November 21, 2020 Administrators Share Posted November 21, 2020 You don't say what sort of point motors you are using - assuming Peco, Seep or another solenoid, I'd say yes. A CDU is cheap and will give the points plenty of omph. If you want to switch two at once, you definitely need one for reliable operation. OK, you might get away with it without, but it's not really worth it. 1

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted November 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 22, 2020 The only solenoid motors I have used have been Peco, and a CDU made a night-and-day difference to their reliability. 2 1
