w124bob
On the EM Hornsey Broadway site they have used these kegs as loads for container flats, so I wondered if there are any plans for a rerun and could they be available via the UK website. RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted November 23, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 23, 2020 One for all you cerevisaphiles out there, are beer kegs age/era specific? Mike.
Michael Hodgson
Beer doesn't have a "use by" date, only a "best before" date, so it's safe to drink old beer...it doesn't taste as good if it's gone flat though. I believe kegs began to replace barrels just before WW2

I remember that, well into the 1970s, Bass used to send loaded 'Tube' wagons to various sites around the country; I saw them at Hafod Yard, Swansea. They sometimes had square plates on the sides lettered 'Bass' and 'Worthington'. The Freightliner services carried Scottish and Newcastle beers from Edinburgh (Portobello) and Newcastle (Follingsby) to various destinations, including Cardiff.
