Featured on BBC Midlands News today. Looks like a real winner as it will be much cheaper to lay the track for it. And no overhead wires either.

There are also proposals for road trams elsewhere which do away with the track as well.

Essentially a glorified guided bus.  The people behind the Coventry project went for a railed solution because of reasons such as lower energy consumption (steel wheels being more efficient than rubber tyres).

Also much better in pedestrianised areas to have a vehicle following a fixed course.

We also know that car users are far more likely to transfer to using a tram than a bus.

I feel that this project has the potential to be a game-changer in allowing trams to be developed in places where a more traditional tramway would be too expensive.
