Bought a rake of 9 on a whim 

 

Have painted the inside grey (light came through the yellow plastic) 

Painted the detailing parts white.

And put some FNA transfers on (I didn't have any better ones)

And so in the spirit of rule one I have my own infrastructure rake.

They run really well and at a average cost of about £9 each they really are good (I paid 36 dollars for 3) . 

 

Right time to stop fiddling with stock and start the layout.

Just been watching a YouTube video about these. Can anyone say exactly what the prototype is? Any photos?

Eaos wagons on the Swiss rails look closest.

Reasonably close in some respects. But the wrong number of doors and rather different door fittings.

 

Maybe a Chinese prototype???

Helped by having the right code, I have discovered that there is an Electrotren model of this same six-door wagon in DB livery.

I am rather impressed by their wagon offerings. I picked up a couple of N scale ones earlier this year and this very afternoon I took delivery of a pair of plain black HO scale US type 50ft Gondolas.

 

I do wonder about the origins of the tooling. Are these originally from a mainstream manufacturer who no longer uses it?

Given these have been made in China there is the possibility that intellectual property rights have been, er, ignored. I am not saying that this has happened here (and I would be a little surprised if there was enough of a market to make it worthwhile) but it certainly has occurred in other fields.

Definitely the Spanish prototype, they even come up in liveries like “Railsider”, which can be found on Google. No idea of their origins though!

Not up to Tangent or Exactrail standards so must be one of the other importers like Atlas, Athearn etc.  Unlikely to be US Bachmann due to tighter control.

AliExpress is a strange site as not only do prices fluctuate due to exchange rate but also I should think demand.

 

I got mine during one of the many 'promotions' they do.

 

I'm keeping and eye on them.as I think I would like to enlarge my fleet by 3 more.

The kit form ones work out quite cheap. 

Ill probably not match the yellow paint but all worth a try

Picked up a blue one (& a Wascosa steel carrier) from AliExpress for a total of £25. Still beats me how they make & ship them so cheaply in 7 days to the UK!

 

Intending to put a nice GBRF logo on the side if I can find decals for it!
