Robatron86
I built this a few months ago, but I haven't shared it with everyone on here. I saw this on Rail Pictures and thought it was an interesting car, but I didn't want to pay $100 for a brass model, so I decided to scratchbuild it. 2 1
RMweb Premium Keith Addenbrooke Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 11, 2020 Looks great (trying to remember which thread I saw a photo on the other day?). It looks to me like the lettering may be by decals - could I ask if are they self-made or how were they sourced? (I’ve been given some freight cars in a freelance livery that I’d like to redo at some point). I suppose we should ask how much the model weighs really? Robatron86
Thank you for your kind words @Keith Addenbrooke. The decals for this car were a custom print made for me by Bill at the Precision Design Company in Canada, but if you are looking for a broader choice of car decals, you would be better off checking out Microscale in California. But be warned, it can get very expensive. Minimum spend of $20 (£15.12) plus $15 shipping (£11.34). The model weighs a scale 68 grams. NickBrad
Looks good, I'm not sure i could come up with anything similar by scratchbuilding.
Robatron86
Sorry @NickBrad, just seen your reply. I only took this project on because it was all straight edges and angles. It is by no means a perfect copy. I believe you have the skills to pull off something like this. Edited February 6, 2021 by Robatron86
