RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted December 11, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2020 This might sound like a silly question so here goes. I’m have a change of direction regarding my railway modelling. Are there any members on the forum solely concentrate on wagon kit building.

brossard
I don't solely do wagons (I'm slowly building a layout too) and most of mine are kits. I have built kits in 4mm but for the last few years I have focused on 7mm. You can see some of my builds in the link below. John

SM42
Not solely wagons here too but most of my current modelling is heavily wagon centric Mostly a plastic man, Parkside, Cambrian et al and have built a few in my time. I blame the Grampus wagons I saw in my youth, coupled with the Parkside Dundas kit only being £2.75 at the time. It was the start of a slippery slope Andy
Wheatley
As a one man band I do everything, but wagons are my favourite. At one time my layout was goods only (complete with 4mm scale closure notices) simply because I hadn't got round to building any coaches ! I know a couple of people away from here who only build wagons for club or mate's layouts. Edited December 12, 2020 by Wheatley
Grizz
There weren’t really any kits for the wagons I wanted and anything RTR was either way too expensive or only available in HO. Sooooo....... https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/108951-scratch-built-modern-european-style-wagons-4mm-ish/ I have built loads of wagon kits over the years, then got into bashing them, then got into scratch building. Guest WM183
I build wagon kits and scratch build in both 4 and 7mm, predominantly the early BR era. Wagon building isn't all i do, but its a solid 90 per cent of it. The folks who have already commented or been mentioned represent some of the "who's who" of wagon builders here, and many others come to mind. If I could not do anything else I'd still build wagon kits and collect every book on wagons in my era I could find! A Parkside or Ratio kit, some detail bits, my little tool pencil box and whatever book I need is a guarantee of several evening's enjoyment for me! Cambrian kits are nice too but not quite as fine as Parkside imo. Edited December 14, 2020 by WM183
