Deleting Notifications

Can anyone point me in the general direction of how to delete Notifications. I usually check them when I alerted that I've received one, How do I get rid of them either then or subsequently as they accumulate into several pages, space that I suspect could be used for better things on the forum.?

I've another four pages that I want to delete. How can I do that please?

I've just looked and can't see anywhere to delete them, in which case they maybe don't take up any bandwidth/memory/whatever.
