PatriotClass
I just ordered some of these motors on EBAY, but I am not shure, it is really the same type. It's a Mabouchi 12 - 18 V motor. The size is 18 x 17,5 x 9 mm, shaft is 1,5 mm: You can check the link here. Regarding the cheap price it runs really well.
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted January 12, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2021 That looks a lot like the old K's HP2M - I hope it's better than that.

RMweb Premium Izzy Posted January 12, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2021 I always use to class these particular looking design ones - which K’s, Ratio, Hornby, all seemed to use at one stage, as 50p Hong Kong motors, which seemed to reflect their quality and performance at the time. Looks like the brushes might be better now.

I wonder how much cruder it would look if it was amateur built. Or is that money was charged?

The only kit parts used was the chassis frame, the motor, gears, wheels axles used were all top quality for the time. The Romford outside cranks are a pain to set up. 3 hours ago, Michael Edge said: They were nearly as bad, very rough and noisy but didn't fail as frequently as the K's one. Not going to argue this point, awful motors, but so different 2 hours ago, DavidCBroad said: Money was charged... There are good and bad professionals, just because money changed hands does not mean its good or bad, you can have an armature doing what is termed a professional (quality) job. Looking at the chassis, the builder has replaced the parts deemed poor quality and replaced them with better quality items. The question is did it work well ?
