Popular Post Poor Old Bruce
Back to Salthouse Junction, Barrow-in-Furness, Furness Railway in 1989 Note the different styles of bricked up windows front and back. To finish off my Cumbrian Photos (unless or until I find any more somewhere) which started at Haverthwaite. Lakeside (Lake Windermere of course), Furness Railway, May 1994 While I was there, I couldn't resist this signal.

johnw1
On 08/02/2021 at 08:32, Harlequin said: Hi @johnw1 Could you use the Share function in Flickr to allow RMWeb to display your photos directly in this thread, please? It's much easier for RMWeb readers to have direct access to the photos than jumping back and forth between websites. Like this for your Sincil Bank photo: It's still a link to the photo, not a copy, and Flickr wouldn't allow the photos to be shared if access were restricted so there should be no copyright issues. (As you can see it does allow sharing of this photo, for instance.) Thanks, Hi Phil, I have had this discussion on page 1 of this thread. My reply was and still is as follows "I preferer to post them as links, if the particular subject is of interest you just have to click the link, if not then you can just quickly pass bye on to the next posting". I personally find displaying the actual photos makes the threads incredibly long, sorry Regards John
RMweb Gold Dagworth Posted February 10, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 10, 2021 One of the very strong reasons for the start of RMweb over the other forums at the time was the ability to post photos within topics rather than just links to external sites. Please can you reconsider John? Most of us it seems would prefer to see the actual photo. Andi
Poor Old Bruce
A couple of preserved ones: Washford, West Somerset Railway, 11 April 1991 and Cranmore, East Somerset Railway, 12 April 1991 Also a 'working'(?) box at Brereton Sidings, seen on 2nd June 1991. I think this one has been shown before in more recent times but doesn't seem to have been indexed yet. Keep at it guys, you're doing a fine job.

Window frames were missing, wild roses growing round it. The restoration of both the station building and the box was done by youngsters on one of the those job creation schemes. The site became a tourist picnic site with the box as a craft shop.

Coach bogie
I had a day, starting at first light, photographing all the boxes from York to Scarborough and down to Hull and across to Goole. Just made it before it got dark. This one took ages to find on the end of a narrow lane at Gristhorpe, first box on the single line to Hull from Scarborough. Large heavy hand operated gates. To see a 64xx or 14xx simmering quietly, or a cheerful toot on a Desilux horn as a railcar came along Monmouth or Chepstow bound. Heck, a D9500 running round a ballast from the quarry would have been good enough. My own rough attempts at recreating in N, now sadly consigned to history, are here. About 5years ago spent quite a while crashing through the undergrowth at Brockweir hoping to find an insulator with GWR on it. To match one with LNER on I found bear Ayot St Peter Peter station. Beautiful part of the world. Should of course have been posted in Railways of Wales. Cracking. Matt W.
