To go with Gainsborough Lea Road we have

And now for some all brick efforts

And finally off abroad again to this interesting little building on the outskirts of Zagan, Poland, 2013. (note the lovely April weather ) It is near a level crossing and I presume it had some role in relation to the crossing.

Those who have an interest in WW2 history may recognisethe name  Zagan.

Stalag Luft III of the Great Escape was on the outskirts of the town and a short walk from this building.

Not in my picture. It looks like it could be the same nameboard, just moved to the front of the box. There may not have been one at the other end at that time.

Whitlingham Junction signalbox door is still going strong. It was replaced a couple of months before the box closed. It's now the relay room door on my Ely Dock Junction..

More Great Eastern stuff.

My take of Reedham Junc on 22 June 1994

and Reedham Swing Bridge on the same date. Best I could do, I'm afraid.1248375220_ReedhamSwingBridge22June1994-9412-25.jpg.f40d94f2bc6c7c5af154681fb09edddd.jpg

and the equally inaccessible Somerleyton Swing Bridge, 29 June 1994. Better than nothing (just!)

Weybourne, 28 June 1994. Preserved one on the North Norfolk Railway, an original M&GNJR box, apparently moved from Holt, next station down the line.

Sherringham East, also North Norfolk Railway. Another ex M&GNJR box, seen on 27 June 1994 during the time it spent on the station platform. It has now been moved back to the level crossing.

I'm not familiar with Seamer, is that a former box?

Yep. Both now redundant (area now controlled from York ROC). Not been that way for quite a while due to Covid restrictions, so don't know if they are both still standing or have been demolished.

That's not controlled by the ROC unfortunately.  The derelict box was the original Seamer box before the existing Seamer East box was added and the old one became redundant about 1911ish, Seamer West was about half a mile further Up towards the Junction for the coast.

This one was in Warrington, but I couldn't get near enough to read the name, plus don't have any books on that area. Missed a connection at Bank Quay, an hour's wait! 2007.

Plus Dinting in 1987.

Thanks for the correction Boris, senior moment on my part, jumping the gun a bit on that one.

The question is why on earth did the York & North Midland 'box survive for all those years ......... maybe as a P'Way mess room when I took my photo in 1983 - but it looks thoroughly disused by 1991.

I would agree it's definitely been used as something, especially seeing as its largely still in LNER sand/green which would indicate use post closure, I have a colleague at work who I can ask, he might know.
