RMweb Premium uax6 Posted May 2, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 2, 2021 (edited) A fun job there Richard... I often wondered why the crossover hadn't been moved from in the crossing there before... Andy G Edited May 2, 2021 by uax6

RMweb Premium iands Posted May 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 4, 2021 Back in Railtrack LNE days a lot of telecoms "asset surveys" were required to be undertaken (for renewal budget purposes). As LNE included Anglia at the time and so few of us in Telecoms, there was a very large are to be covered. We all had IWA competencies so I "volunteered" to do the survey from Blankney Signal Box to Metheringham station - I almost got away with it! 2
LNERGE
I wish I’d taken photos of the building between the box and station.

Putting some context on that last comment, for those that don't know the line That is Blankney Signal Box, as seen from Metheringham Station....

Just held in place by the ballast backfill?
LNERGE
Backfilled and packed in correctly and they are firm enough. I do prefer the solid concrete LNER style legs if there is going to be some weight on it.
LNERGE
This bench is for a pair of compensators in ash ballast. A proper hernia job manhandling it about but worth it as it won't move.. Edited May 6, 2021 by LNERGE
Tim V
I'm not sure this qualifies! It controls trains. It's a good day out. Bekonscot 2013! And interior!

Wickham Green too
I wonder if 'Maryloo Signal Box' was actually built by the G.W.R. contemporary with the model village ...... or re-purposed from elsewhere, later.

Michael Hodgson
The level crossing at Bellwater Junction is on a skew. The two gates were hand-worked, but if a gate wheel had been provided it would have been possible to drive both gates without them conflicting because the skew is so sharp. Normally that's not possible with gate wheels unless 4 gates are provided.
