Also Holyhead Freightliner Terminal Frame, a BR(LMR) type. with a ladies bicycle parked by the steps. Holyhead opened in 1938, replacing several LNWR boxes around the station, originally it had 100 levers. Levers 1-15 were removed in 1968 and used to build your next photo, the 15 lever Freightliner Terminal Frame - reducing it to 85 levers but .. the remaining 85 levers were replaced by a new 85 lever frame in 1969 which was extended (back) to 100 levers in the 1970s - this was relocked in 1987 (thanks to various for the info) - phew. Freightliner Terminal Frame closed in 1994. Edited June 21, 2021 by beast66606 clarification 4 1
Poor Old Bruce
The best I can do at the moment for dating these is some time in the 1980s A Caledonian Railway box, I think between Edinburgh and Carstairs. I hope someone will be able to tell us its name. Some from the Manchester area Agecroft Junction Deal Street, opposite Manchester Exchange Irwell Bridge Sidings, a few yards from Deal Street and Ashburys West, GCR

RMweb Premium Ian Smeeton Posted June 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 22, 2021 I have recently been given number of photos from the Leicester to Peterborough Line. Oakham Junction Box which stood just beyond the start of the Oakham Goods Loops (Down & Up) Egleton Box. Photo Possibly by Brian Rose (Is he still around?) Both of these have been gone for a long time. I think that I have a few more. Regards Ian

I think Bruce must've been right : On the front of the box the old brickwork extends slightly into the end window bay and there could be a hint of the sixth locking room window - and on the back it looks very much as if the building's always been symmetrical. The nameplate is standard GWR cast-iron, but has been painted black on white in mimicry of BR 1970s sheet metal nameplates. By contrast, Worcester SH station, also seen above, has a stamped sheet metal nameplate of WR design, which shows grey/white letters on a black ground. Thanks for the compliment @beast66606(and all those who 'agree'). They might as well be shared on here as they may not get anywhere else before I turn my toes up and who knows what will happen then. I hope my photos will go as a whole collection rather than piecemeal scattering to the four corners of the world but if it was left till then I would not be able to bask in the glory of all the 'likes' that I have accumulated on here. So thanks to all of you who have pressed the 'Like' button, it makes it worth while. I've already posted over 1000 photos on this thread but there's still quite a few more to go at and then lots of slides to scan and negatives that have never even been printed (could be anything on them!). 8 4
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted June 26, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 26, 2021 In a loco-centric hobby, some of us realise that the signalbox alone is what makes the entire system safe and thus feasible. As their numbers drop like a stone, your photos are a great reminder of how it used to be. 5 6

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted June 26, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 26, 2021 (edited) Orpington is BR(S), having a miniature panel. Commissioned 4.3.1962. EDIT : Oh, and on the block shelf at Sutton was a tin marked 'Tea Fund', so I put a few coins in, circa 1970. The tin was then reversed, and it said 'Sutton Signalmen's Regrading Fund'!
