Russ, here are the Boom Gates once at Melton Lane near Hull. If you decide to model them I have dimensioned drawings that I made when I was the signalman there.

When did it gain the extra distant Mick?

I grabbed this shot of Bathley Lane a couple of days ago.

I remember, quite a few years ago now, and after it became "unmanned", watching the panel whilst I had my lunch. It was nice when you could do things like that.

Whitwell in the 1980s some time, probably 1983ish. I'm not sure where this one is though. The Pre-Group Atlas lists two Whitwells, one in Derbyshire and one in the Isle of Wight, it's neither of them. It's open to the membership!

My local box...spent many hours sitting there waiting for a train, any train! The old crossing gates were bought by the local farm and you used to be able to see them from the nearby motorway.

Fossway Road Crossing, somewhere near Lichfield so I presume LNWR, 22 July 1984. Why I got there and only managed to end up with this one picture is lost in the mists of time I'm afraid.

Designated LNWR Type 3, closed 1973, it still stands although closed for nearly 40 years now

Wranbrook Jct H&BRly was an interesting location and I'm sure it could also be transformed in to an interesting model, plenty of scope for watching trains and if you wanted engines running round and shunting complete trains from on branch to another. From 1958 the line was severed at the tunnel mouth but traffic continued. I'm of the opinion the signalbox was widened at sometime, probably c1900 when the Wath Branch was added. Also worthy of comment is the us of "Push and Pull" levers on a Saxby 1888 Duplex frame.

Apologies if I've already posted this elsewhere, but it is of an unid WD heading heading towards Wrangbrook at Pickburn. Sort of compliments the photos that Mick posted above.

It was still in use in the mid 90s as somewhere for a crossing attendant to shelter and store the required equipment, should the adjacent AHB fail.

IIRC it still had some levers in it

The box is a remarkable survivor.

Following Ian's mention of Pickburn, it seems appropriate to add a few pictures.

That looks like two different boxes to me. Presumably the one in the first picture was a replacement at some time for the one in the second and thirs pictures.
