From 1958 the line was severed at the tunnel mouth but traffic continued. I'm of the opinion the signalbox was widened at sometime, probably c1900 when the Wath Branch was added. Also worthy of comment is the us of "Push and Pull" levers on a Saxby 1888 Duplex frame. micknich2003
Russ, no, passenger traffic had long ceased on both lines when the Spring Points were installed. Two locations were Spring Points were used on passenger lines come to mind, Staddlethorpe Jct, and Kirkella Cutting, in both cases in the trailing direction only. if used in the Facing Direction during for example Single Line Working, they would be clamped and scotched.

This box strikes me as unusual in the signal boxes normally have either a nameboard on the front or nameboards at both ends However it does look as though it once carried a board under the front window. Wickham Green too
Seems rather odd that someone thought it necessary to claim it as "British Rail" property ......... who else could it have belonged to at that date ?

micknich2003
Locomotive Jct, H&BRly 1885 to 1964. I wonder how many Locomotive Jcts or Engine Shed Jcts there once where in the UK? Some railways had more than one. The biggest was York Locomotive, 295 levers, 1909 to 1951, world wide the largest ever mechanical installation.

DOCJACOB
A random image, certainly not the best, I found PM today. Immingham West Junction 8/92 Interesting as looks a fairly typical ex GCR box but in ABP colours. I think the reception sidings box (dont have image) is in same generic ABP colours.

Popular Post micknich2003
Sandholme H&BRly. The photo' illustrates the 1907 replacement signalbox, no views of the original one, which opened with the railway in July 1885 are known to exist. Of interest at the later 'box, is the arrangement of the level crossing gates.

micknich2003
It's great to see the H&BR postings by mick; an area I know nothing about. Thanks for the kind comment. The H&BRly has to coin a phrase been my life's work and not only signalling. I recommend anyone wanting to know more, to seek out a copy of Nick Fleetwood' H&BRly Signalling book, the infinitive work on the subject. Copy's can be obtained from the North Eastern Railway Assoc, see their web site.

micknich2003
Little Weighton opened with the line in 1885 and was closed as a Block Post April 1959 when the line west was severed. it was then worked as a GF until the line finally closed in July 1964. Originally fitted with a S&F "Rocker" frame, this was replaced with M&H No16 App by the LNERly. 16

micknich2003
For a change, a visit to the former North Eastern Rly Scarborough Branch and Beverley Cherry Tree. This is the replacement signalbox of c1911 closed mid '80's and now plain though the level crossing remains and is worked by CCRV from Beverley signalbox.
