Michael Hodgson
The absence of the box board in the photo above implies it was not an operational box at the time. I seem to recall Awre crossing was boarded up last time I was there several years ago. I was under the impression it was in use as PW stores or similar. Tim V
Yes, it's non operational, but there are plenty of other closed boxes in this thread.

I think you'd be hard pressed to get much of the box from that angle these days. The background is nothing like that these days either. Unless the foliage has been hacked back in the 12 years since this image was taken, and no windmill in this one either..... And the signal has been changed for the modern alloy, all safety scaffolding style semaphore. Mike Wiltshire

RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted December 18, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 18, 2021 Rather a long delay, as I have been doing a lot of database work for a publishing project. RMweb Gold 96701 Posted December 21, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 21, 2021 (edited) I don't suppose for a moment that Brock box is still standing by the WCML as it was in the mid seventies. Edited April 18, 2022 by 96701
Tim V
Further slides hot off the scanner: Aberbeeg in 1997. My picture from 1982 on page 10 of this thread. Abergavenny in 1997.
Tim V
Just checked Street View and this gorgeous cabin at Minety has been replaced by a featureless portacabin. Copyright forbids me from posting the after picture, but here is a link. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.6252637,-1.9802649,3a,66.9y,6.38h,84.94t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s8Xy5KzWh_5mXO0vsDjJNUw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en I can say that the flower baskets seem to be common to both cabins.

Tim V
Winchcombe in 2002, interior was on page 13 of this thread. This box is a replica, a picture of the Winchcombe site in 1980 - note no box (and no station)!
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted December 29, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 29, 2021 Blankney signal box at Metheringham station back in 1987 on the Lincoln to Peterborough line. I was surprised to see it still standing today as we went past on the train. However all the station buildings have gone with just modern shelters on the extended platforms
