Popular Post Lady_Farkham
Hi folks! I've been away from RMweb for some years, but decided to make a return. Some of you will remember Farkham from the many years it spent on the exhibition circuit. It was originally built and exhibited by Mickleover MRG, and portrays the speedlink era somewhere in the midlands. The layout is now enjoying a well deserved retirement, with me as its owner and custodian since February 2018. I've set up a website, facebook, instagram and this post for Farkham, to show what I'm doing with my modelling projects and the layout, as it would be a real shame to hide the layout away from sight. There are some changes coming to the layout. Over the next few months, I will be changing Farkham from an end to end, to a tail chaser and converting it to DCC. In the meantime, while I'm waiting for Tim's excellent laser cut baseboards, I'll showcase a few projects I've been working on here. RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted December 16, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 16, 2020 Hi Lucy Great to see the old layout again and pleased that you are making plans for its redevelopment. I'll let others in the Club know about this as they don't normally look at RMweb . . . . . . . . . . Mike
Lady_Farkham
Thanks Mike. Truly loving the layout. Next up on my workbench is 47 238 'Bescot Yard'. I've modified this one so the cab door is open. Painting of the white window surrounds required a steady hand. I just need to paint the white lines around the bufferbeams next, before weathering. Popular Post Lady_Farkham
Today I've been weathering my seven Heljan BOC tankers. I'll clean the handwheels before I consider them finished, but otherwise quite pleased with them. Usual airbrushing to chassis and lower half with frame dirt. Matt varnish followed by clay based washes (a mix of rust and sand colours) to the top half of the tanks. DonB
Elitist?.....Moi? never! ( although I'm no longer a paid-up member, understandably they don't really cater for Arm-chair modellers like me!) Enjoyed seeing the pictures of Farkham in its new home, never saw it on exhibition, only stacked and stored in the Club room, It made a fine barrier. Poor Old Bruce
They don't cater for anyone at present Don as the Clubroom is closed for the duration but there were plenty of armchair modellers when we were open any we would be pleased to welcome you when possible. Richard That's all well and good, but how many models of armchairs do you actually need? Mike. 2

Matt
one of my fave layouts when on the exhibition circuit. I recall seeing it first in the Modeller some years back and being captivated from that point. Great to see it has gone to a good home and continues to live on and even be developed further. Popular Post Lady_Farkham
I've weathered my C-Rail containers for my Bachmann FFA/FGA wagons. Over the last few days I've been finishing a few, 'already started' projects to make some space on the workbench. The container train will eventually consist of three, five sets.
rob D2
Very nice, reminds me of that area of Birmingham under the M6 that was a single track with cement trains ? I guess the layout could easily go back a few years and forward - a blue 31 would look as good on that as an EWS 66
porkie
Superb Lucy. Has always been a favourite of mine when it was on the scene. Keep the updates coming. Love the Grubby 47 one of Thornaby's finest

EWS FAN
Looks a nice layout. It will be interesting to see photos of it when you convert it into a Tail Chaser. I've got some photos which i took of it when it was at Warley in 2017. Edited December 21, 2020 by EWS FAN

RMweb Premium SHerr Posted December 22, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 22, 2020 Really good to see Farkham back on the scene- it was always one of my favourite layouts. You mentioned at the top a website, could you drop a link in here if possible, I only seem to be able to find the old owners pages (unless I’m getting mixed up). The BOC tanks looks great, I got one but haven’t got round to weathering yet but with other tanks I too have found I prefer powders for the main tank, especially non oil tanks. Good luck with the future mods.
P.C.M
Nice to see more pics of this layout. I remember seeing an article in a Mag a few years back. Layout detail and stock look spot on. Cheers Peter.

rob D2
Had a good browse through that , you are doing some interesting stuff - 1990 was a time in between my interest in railways so it’s good to see some of the stuff that was about
dasatcopthorne
Not only a great layout (I booked it for one of our Club's shows a good few years ago), but good photos as well. Dave.
