Club meetings within Covid Tier 2

We have been very lucky here in Cornwall, to have low Covid infection rates and during the current phase of ‘tiers’ we have been in Tier 1 and my local club has been able to continue meeting indoors in our clubroom under the ‘rule of six’.  We appreciate how fortunate we have been compared to most other parts of the UK, but now things have changed.

From today, we have been upped to Tier 2, where socialising indoors is no longer allowed, however the guidelines on .gov.uk tell us that hobby groups can continue to meet as long as there is no social mixing of households.  :scratchhead: A certain amount of head scratching has ensued regarding what exactly this means we can and cannot do from here on, whilst following these (new to us) guidelines.

Can members of other clubs operating within Tier 2 please advise us what club activities, if any,  they have been able to continue with under Tier 2 rules?

you will find it difficult to get a straight answer, as the advise is confusing and contradictory. From what I found out, you have to create a “covid safe environment”. Basically, you have to arrange the venue for social distancing, and provide lots of reminders in the form of notices, we also had a cleaning list that was completed on opening the club rooms, things like cleaning door handles . I say all this in a past sense, we went from tier 1 to 3 and then last week 4, hope this helps

While in Tier 3, we spoke to the council about our 'club' (that is a loose term as we are a group of friends who rent some space for your layouts) and the council said that, as far as they were concerned, we fell under the same rules as gyms so, as long as social distancing was followed (easy enough with 6 people in a room 180' long) and that we had sanitiser and a clear cleaning regime then we were OK to carry on visiting the clubrooms.

We are now in Tier 4 so the clubroom is now closed for the foreseeable...
