class37418stag
Hello everyone please excuse my English scrap metal yard own two or one shunter ? BR shunter run with brake van for access crossing road on branch line
Aire Head
Crossley Evans scrapyard in Shipley West Yorkshire has 5 Shunters (not all working at the same time). The scrapyard is in the old goods yard however so there is no requirement for anything to cross a road. Although to be fair trains no longer in from there anyway. Looks like these guys ( Queenborough rolling Mill Co.Ltd. at that date - 1979 ) had 21 assorted locos over the years including five ex BR machines ...... but probably no more than three or four at a time : some ended up in preservation but the majority went into the furnaces when worn out though, oddly, not all cut up locally ! Excellent photos. I'm looking at building a layout based on Queensborough Rolling Mill. If you have any more photos I'd love to see them.
Wickham Green too
Not much, I'm afraid - those two shots plus two more from a flying visit on my way home from Snowdown Colliery in 1979 and a couple of quick passing shots from the train before visiting the Sittingbourne & Kemsley in 1990 : -

Wickham Green too
I think the brakes are as effective on that as they would be on an SR fifteen tonner from a Cambrian kit !
