RateTheFreight
Hello, Having been reading the delightful book ‘Glasgow Trammerung’ I noticed an interesting picture showing a small electric loco hauling a freight train on the system in the Govan area bound for a shipyard. Does anyone have any further information on the locos or the use of freight on the Glasgow system? many thanks in advance. G
RMweb Premium Dava Posted January 2, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 2, 2021 See this link to the Fairfield loco atBoness Scottish railway museum http://www.srpsmuseum.org.uk/10014.htm It explains why the Glasgow tramways were built to a narrower gauge so that SG railway wagons could run on them to the Clydeside shipyards. iPad & hand playing up this morning, forgive text errors. Steam pugs also ran on some sections. Dava 1
