collectors
Hi, i am just starting to convert some locos on an ON30 scale to battery. What connectors do you use for charging a battery train/loco. I am using 3 amp 3S lipo's that can be ballance charged. Do you just charge your battery via the pos/neg lead & every now & then balance charge the battery. I was hoping not to have to take the carriage apart for charging & fit a jack plug to charge. Or do i fit a 2 pole jack & a 4 pole jack to enable balance charging??? Any words of wisdom would help. Thanks
RMweb Gold daveyb Posted January 2, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 2, 2021 Probably not the right section... I would ask on a scale models radio control forum. Those in that field have much more liPo experience than in model railway applications.
a98087
Depend on what charger you have, some charge via the balance plug, others via the output lead. if the battery’s is in situ it’s easier to run a 4 pile and 2 pole extender lead out from the battery. You can buy leads ready made up on eBay, so you can have a short lead on the battery vehicle, And a longer lead to connect the charger and battery
