Passing contact switch control for Dapol signals

I think you'll find it's the reverse. The only reason a push button is recommended is because it MUST be a momentary contact. I'm really sorry because your suggestion seemed to be the best and simplest. These are the Dapol instructions: -

Leaving the yellow wires connected will not harm it, there is nothing in those instructions to suggest it will. The bold type is a completely different no-no.

There is no specified time limit on length of push, to change it again you just have to let go then push again. Suzie's switch proposal will work just fine.

Take more notice of those that know rather than misinterpretation of Dapol instructions.

 

PS. Even push buttons can be left on, people have been known to leave books on them. It won't do any harm.
