Bovey Tor

Whilst not needing to be a slavish copy, when model buildings are inspired by real ones they always seem to work much better.

Sometimes we can improve on real buildings with a bit of thought and minimal materials.

I rest my case for scratch building based on your photos!:D

Those buildings look great, how did you do the rusty tin roofs?

Strips of card which have been embossed on top of some heavy gauge wires, held in a jig.

Then painted with various Vallejo rust paints.

Morning George.

As individual buildings they are quite splendid but probably as a result of being built by yourself, rather than an amalgamation of kits etc, they come together very well.

Mere mortals such as I have to rely upon trying to bring things together by way of painting and weathering.

There is no mistaking your 'style'.

Top stuff.

Rob.

Morning Rob, That is so good to hear.

Like we talked about a while ago, I've been scouring the web looking for the right buildings for Bovey Tor. Regardless of whether they are GWR or not. And that, my friend is the beauty of a freelance layout. All I really care about is that everything works together in harmony.

Still a few more to add in the coming months. A corrugated lamp room. A kiosk / cafe with outdoor seating. An old dilapidated barn and of course an old privy with interior. :)

Actually, George, you and Rob share one talent which many of us struggle to find - vision. Being able to 'see' a particular structure will be right in a location or setting is the same whether kit-mingling or scratching.

Nearly forgot. Two or three more narrow boats. Plus the original one, disappearing down the tunnel.

Tunnelling under Dartmoor might have been rather hard work!

Curious being my first name and not having been a member of this parish in 2011, I was intrigued.

But thanks to some deft rummaging around.

The penny has now dropped. :)
