Actually as the back scene suggests, it's after some rain, but the sun is now out, so we're expecting a few puddles here and there.

That sky reminds me of when we lived at Buckfast, and looking out over Dartmoor.

 

As for puddles, I have done some with clear plastic, paint the underside with a gloss black and then glue down around the edges to that its air tight.

Then do your scenics around it, and over it to form a puddle.

I did think of clear plastic. But I also have some very thin glass slides used with microscopes. The idea is to place a few strategically around the layout. That pond looks very realistic.

The glass is a better idea, as it won't buckle in a warming room. Go for it.:good:

BTW, I've also got a fairly long canal to model in the front of the layout. I'm using 3mm perspex for that.
