nelly
I would like to model the water column at Bury Bolton St station on the ELR. It is described as a “Horwich type” in the excellent “Bury to Heywood and Rawtenstall” book by Wells & Bentley. Other examples of this type were found in various sites as depicted in the photos contained therein. Are they in fact of the LMS/ Midland type available as a white metal OO gauge kit? If not, can anyone point me to an appropriate OO model of the type. Edited January 21, 2021 by nelly

Marshall5
Try Holt Model Railways in Swansea as they took over the the Mike's Models range of 4mm scale water crane kits. Ray.
Marshall5
Some years ago I made my own platform mounted L&Y column using the 4mm scale drawing (blown up to 7mm) in 'LMS engine sheds vol.3' which was copied from a Horwich original. There is also a drawing for an L&Y parachute column in the same volume. I turned the column from a piece of hardwood (as I hadn't a suitable piece of ally to hand) and the short 'spout' from a bent piece of copper tube. My wife made the 'bag' from a bit of silk or something. Ray.
