RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted January 12, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 12, 2021 As above, for a mad Frankenstein project to make a BR standard 2-10-4. Preferably in black, but no biggie if it's the preserved green livery
PeckettChap
Have you considered using one of the 4MT 'clone' bodies that were produced under the Great British Locomotives brand a year or so ago ?
RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted January 15, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 15, 2021 What a good idea I could get two to chop up for the tank and bunker extensions ....
RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted January 15, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 15, 2021 although looking at the ones on eBay the details are not really there, no tank vents, firebox pipework all moulded etc, I was hoping to swap all the Bachmann pipework over
PeckettChap
Perhaps you could use some of the BR standard loco fittings made by Alan Gibson ? I seem to remember these being favourably commented on in some magazine or other. (No idea on current prices, but they may be within your budget.) RMweb Gold RedgateModels Posted January 16, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 16, 2021 There is always the Comet detailing packs, but I was hoping not to have to go down that route. However, took my existing Bachmann 4mt apart today, body construction is far too complicated for a cut and shut so a GBL 80079 ordered from eBay
Ben Alder
I'm halfway through one of these using the GBL locos. The detail is poor but it is a scratch that itch project with no practical value as a powered loco so the static version will suffice - it does look impressive though...... Ben Alder
A 2-10-4T. Basically a proving model in case I ever decide to hack up two powered versions, but going by the amount of projects in hand and awaiting a start it is unlikely to ever surface. An interesting diversion, though.
