And some six years earlier (can it really be that long ago?) here is "Il Duce" himself starting off the raffle at the Taunton members day as only he can....

Tanton il duce.jpg

A bit of photo trickery, I am not convinced Il Duce is that tall though all such pictures have him towering over his minions, in person his legs look a very normal length.

Kidderminster, back in 2009,

The Friday afternoon  view around 4pm.

5-a-side has just finished and the hall dividers and goal posts yet to come down.  The tape measure is warmed up and the marking out crew are straining on the leash to get going.

Just got to fill it up now

A rather fuzzy Saturday morning shot from  the public entrance a few minutes before opening.

Bob Dawson standing by at the first demo stand.

The  arena, along with the rest of the leisure centre, was demolished a few years ago and the area still awaits development

Really enjoying these shots. They're bringing an odd combination of happiness at seeing so many old friends, as well as regret that we haven't been able to get together for so long.

Brian Rolley (BR2975) took these at the 2019 "small" Cardiff show; I don't think he'll mind me reposting them here as they're already on the forum elsewhere. Dave Stone and I are busy with L'Heure Blue in the bottom of the pic.

NHY581 was lucky to get off with a warning from the finescale police:

That photo threw me for a bit. I thought hang on, thats Sheep Lane, that's not 2019.....that's 2017.

Then I remembered. I was due to have Bleat Wharf there and had been building it in the later part of 2018. However, I had ripped it up in November due to a point failure in the inlaid track section. I had no chance of having it rebuilt and ready and had brought Sheep Lane  along instead for its second appearance at the show.

2020 was to have seen the revised Bleat Wharf at the show......however......

Fact- In 2017, myself and Sheep Lane were located outside the ladies toilets......

Moving on to the second exhibition layout.  A good showing of why I don't usually take pics at shows while there are people in front of the layout.  Hawthorn Dene at Peterbrough 2017 with Mr Simon playing trains again and Martin studying something closely...

The same show but before the punters arrived.

The icing on the cake.  I don't expect to win a pot but they are really nice when they arrive.  Bristol show 2017.  Best 2mm/N gauge layout- despite my losing a screw from the front during maintenance and forgetting to colour its replacement.

I like seeing crowds in front of the layout. i think these periscopes the children are using are great. But who is that guy leaning on the barrier - a doppelganger of a well known person?

I have just found a couple more from Jerry's wonderful show at Warminster back in those far away days of 2019.

First off 2mm Mark and PMP enjoying Chris Nevard's Brew Street, Laurie Griffin background right with hand on head and CK doing bookshop duty background left.

Then we have Barry Norman with a cuppa admiring the the North Cornwall lines while maestro John Greenwood is at the control panel.

Thanks to everyone for contributing to the thread - it has cheered me up no end!

Setting up and testing London Road on Friday evening at the Warley Show, 2016. Hywel Rees and Tony Montgomery (Ambergate) dressed to cope with the temperature in the hall.

Colin McCallum introducing a young man to operating the layout. He was there with his grandfather and had been back three times to look at London Road. I managed to find a spare London Road badge for him. It is interesting to see how many young people were in the 1980 Leeds MRS show in 1980, quite different nowadays.

Brilliant job, I always let the younguns on my layout, just in the hope I can inspire them to be life long modellers!

An aerial view of London Road at the 2018 York MRS. I had forgotten to take the interlocking garage rubber floor tiles to put down on the hard floor. Standing on solid as opposed wooden hall floors is hard on the feet.

Tony Sheffield (Brassmasters) and Tony Montgomery ( owns the Ambergate layout) are at the far end fiddle yard, while John Sheratt plays the control panel and Andy Walker drives a train into the near fiddle yard. Richard McLachlan (seated) is probably looking at his new purchases.

Great to see this topic is still trundling along. Here's a couple from Utrecht 2016 and 2018, what with the double whammy of Brexit and Covid I dont know when we will get back there.  As well as myself and the glamourous Kim there is also my old mate Gascupboard Dave, Henk and the three amigos, Simon C, Dave Doe and the Ricycle

And why not? I reckon drooling over purchases - especially impulse buys - is an important part of the Exhibition Experience.

It also gives you time to contemplate how you are going to sneak them past SWMBO when you get home, or prepare your dubious but plausible justifications if that fails. :scared:  :jester:
