BartonStDavidSDJR
I’m wanting to repaint the roofs on my Hornby Collett bow ended carriages. I have decided I want to go with grey, but after trawling through many forum posts similar to mine I can’t find a grey which people recommend. I am get to dabble in airbrushing, so an aerosol is my best bet. Has anyone got any recommendations as to the right sort of aerosol colour for this? Thanks in advance. Miss Prism
Don't forget to chuck some dark brown into the mix.
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted January 25, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2021 Was going to suggest Railmatch roof grey but their aerosols are prone to clogging after initial use. Doing them all in one visit might work. Humbrol tank grey might be an option if you want the spray to work properly.
RMweb Gold Taz Posted January 25, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2021 I use Humbrol 67 for coach roofs (as recommended by Tony Wright)
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted January 25, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2021 Tamiya Acrylic XF-80 light grey with a bit of XF-8 blue in the mix to give it that lead paint feel. You may well have to prime the roof first if you're going to use 'cryilics; never done a Hornby 57' Collett roof so can't say, mine are in BR crimson and I'm happy with the roofs as they are, in fact I use them as swatch standard for my other coaches.
