gelboy45
Hi I have a Hornby 2 Hal in BR green with yellow warning panels and 1st class stripes. Has anyone painted these out or know anyone who could do this for me as my painting skills are really rubbish. Many thanks Gerry
Guest
I doubt a partial repaint would work as you would need to obliterate the underlying yellow completely and you will never match the exact shade of green. A better bet might be to sell your Hal on Ebay and buy one that matches your requirements.
RMweb Gold Right Away Posted February 3, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) It’s probably better posted in the Weathering and Painting section, however.... I used Humbrol Acrylic RC409 Malachite with airbrush. The jumpers were picked out afterwards with a mix of colour with a fine brush. A gentle waft of a dirt colour over the lower front panel disguises any “join”. Masking for the cantrail stripe was a bit tricky especially around the windows so take your time. Refer to photographs for accuracy. (Note these units have been “de-horned” and whistles represented.) I am no painting/weathering expert, just a self taught novice. Hope the examples below are helpful. Edited February 3, 2021 by Right Away 3
