Good to see TVR anything.

What period are you modelling?

A couple of decent refs for you.

For a book try "Great Western Way" from HMRS

Hope this helps.

If you are modelling South Wales then the Welsh Railway Research Circle (WRRC) iis a good place to join.

Hope this helps

I painted my TVR van a crimson colour (information was even harder to obtain in the seventies when i built it), but I understand it should be 'red-brown' which covers a multitude of sins.

My van is shown in the above link. It is longer than the 16 feet estimated.

Ernest Carter's (1952) Britain's Railway Liveries, which is normally a good source on pre-group colour  schemes, only has one short entry for wagons. Carter writes that in 1898: "Goods stock was a dark rich red, with white lettering. The ends of goods brakes were vermilion, and all ironwork was painted black."

Digby's "The liveries of the Pre-Grouping Railways Volume 1. Wales and the west of England covers the Taff Vale, and generally follows the HMRS and Carter. He has paintings of locos, carriages and wagons, though of course colour printing is a bit erratic. But it is probably as good a guide as any, and he gives his sources and colour references. I have painted my couple of TVR vehicles red brown too.
