Moderators AY Mod Posted February 3, 2021 Moderators Share Posted February 3, 2021 BACHMANN EUROPE ANNOUNCE NEW PRODUCTS FOR SPRING 2021 Bachmann Europe Plc today announced the new products that will be arriving during Spring 2021 for its Bachmann Branchline, Bachmann Narrow Gauge, Graham Farish and Scenecraft ranges – catering for N, OO9 and OO scale interests. Twelve months on from the launch of the first British Railway Announcements, which saw Bachmann implement a new policy for the announcement of new products, the Spring 2021 collection marks a significant milestone in the implementation of this new policy – with the unveiling of the first all-new tooling model for the Bachmann Branchline OO scale range via British Railway Announcements. Today’s news cements Bachmann’s approach to bringing all new products to customers and consumers in a prompt and concise manner, whether these are reintroductions of existing models with new liveries or identities, or all-new tooling projects such as the Class 20/0 – which has been developed quietly over the last few years before being revealed now that production is all but complete. Alongside the Class 20/0, there are further additions to the Bachmann Branchline range including a new version of the Class 94XX Pannier Tank and the reintroduction of two popular 4-6-0 Steam Locomotives, the Standard Class 4MT and the Modified Hall – the latter having received modifications to its tooling to more accurately depict the front-end of the prototype. The Class 24/1 and Class 121 DMUs receive SOUND FITTED versions, as do the all-new Class 20/3 locomotives – joining the previously-announced standard versions. There are also SOUND FITTED options for OO9 scale modellers with five Baldwin 10-12-D locomotives now offered with this popular feature. Graham Farish welcomes the introduction of the Class 66 No. 66783 ‘The Flying Dustman’ in the bold GBRf Biffa Red livery, whilst there are additions to the range of N scale rolling stock including a further version of the forthcoming WD ‘Parrot’ Bogie Wagon, this time depicting the 50T Bogie Bolster B. The Scenecraft range sees new additions to the Lucston and Wigmore collection that launched in Winter 2020, with essential items such as Lucston Station and Lucston Signal Box, plus Wigmore Farmhouse and Wigmore Cattle Grid – two rural necessities. Furthermore, popular OO scale buildings like the North Eastern Railway Station and Goathland Garage now feature in the Scenecraft range, along with Rail Built Buffer Stops. In N scale there are further Low Relief models and a Pent Roof Garden Shed. Consumers can get a taster of British Railway Announcements by purchasing the Bachmann Europe Model Railway Combined Volume 2021, featuring our current range of forthcoming items, plus those still in stock from 2020 and earlier. The Combined Volume Catalogue also features a sample edition of the Spring 2021 British Railway Announcements Catalogues, three more of which will be published during 2021 and these will be available exclusively with the Bachmann Times magazine – the official magazine of the Bachmann Collectors Club. The 2021 Combined Volume Catalogue will be distributed to Bachmann stockists from Monday 8th February, whilst the first of the new items unveiled today will be distributed during the second half of the month – projected release dates can be found at www.bachmann.co.uk. MattA
As a preservation-era modeller, I can hear my wallet pleading for mercy with the modified Modified Hall and the re-issued 4MTs in preserved identities. I am so glad to see the Mod Hall finally done justice!! 1

Edge
Always wanted a Jubilee, and I do like my odd liveries... I take it that there was no news from new stuff for EFE? That’s where most of my purchase money has gone for the past year, so I was interested to see what they could have coming Edited February 3, 2021 by Edge

Steamport Southport
I hope Burton Agnes Hall is going to have a fire iron tunnel.... It was small errors like that which ruined the last batch of Modified Halls. https://preservedbritishsteamlocomotives.com/6998-burton-agnes-hall/ Jason
Waverley47708
Good to see retooled 20s I know folk have been asking for them for while. I've got 9 already so probably have enough. Wonder if the disc version is a non Scottish enlarged cab window, would make sense if it was. But please where are the ScotRail livery mk2a coaches ???? RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted February 3, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 3, 2021 Modified Hall ... phew thank goodness it’s not a Manor! Great choice... hope it comes with etched or printed plates rather than moulded, much easier to Renumber. 85A men really rated their 79xx Halls as equivalent to a Castle, Wolf and Coney could be on the way 4

RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted February 3, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 3, 2021 I’m a bit stumped as to why they are doing Goathland station. Including the Harry Potter version from Hornby, that’s 4 different models of it now. 2 accurate deep ones, and 2 inaccurate top of platform ones. Good to see the preserved Halls and 75xxx though. And great to see they have modified the modified halls (couldn’t resist lol) to accurately represent the front.

Fair play & Kudos to Bachmann, some of the product announced looks first rate. Sad to say, the wagons...... To paraphrase Python... " Bereft of life, it rests in peace " C'mon Bachmann, you can do sooo much better. Rather than criticise, just don't buy it...... 1

banburysaint
Is the price on the blue grey porthole coach correct at £79.95, given that the LMS version list price is £56.95? Edited February 3, 2021 by banburysaint 1 3
RMweb Gold MikeParkin65 Posted February 3, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 3, 2021 Surprised that the blue and grey portholes are main range rather than commissions or collectors club specials but no more maroon. As always the market is awash with 1st class maroon but 3rds are like hens teeth.
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted February 3, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 3, 2021 Thanks for the information Andy. And some quite clever ideas there. Getting in with a re-tooled Class 20 before someone else upstages them is not a bad idea in my view. And modifying their 'Modified Hall' to make it actually look like a 'Modified Hall' is a very sensible step - provided they make sure about the fireiron tunnel and hopefully some readily renameable nameplates as Phil Bullock mentioned; time to check the allocation lists and shopping dates. Money will be spent.

I wonder - hope - that it's a smaller production run which is reflected in the higher price and isn't indicative of the way prices are going. I agree a run of maroon and crimson/cream 3rds would make sense. Likewise the Thompsons in maroon.... Edited February 4, 2021 by davidw 1

RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted February 3, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 3, 2021 I think they missed a trick with 9405, a weathered 9402 which could have represented a GW built loco in BR livery, a box not yet ticked. But overall a sensible range for a company still catching up with previous committments, and some nice buffer stops and braziers for me for not much money.
