dasatcopthorne
I wondered in anyone makes a point of photographing station furniture. I can't be the only one who can't remember what things such as seats, rubbish bins and other things and especially the colours. Dave

RMweb Gold DaveF Posted February 9, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) When I visit a staion I often take photos of structures and station furniture, often for modelmaking purposes. Some of them are in my threads here, some are on my flickr site. You can find them looking at the links in my signature and in: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/85326-dave-fs-photos-ongoing-more-added-each-day/ David Edited February 9, 2021 by DaveF
Rugd1022
I went through a phase of photographing anything that wasn't nailed down a few years ago, in a way I'm glad I did as a lot of the places I did this have changed a lot. Here are some examples.... Bescot Shed and the surrounding area....
RMweb Premium Neil Posted August 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2021 (edited) I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind. I take very few railway photos but occasionally I see something that I think makes a nice composition. This pair are from Ghent, seven years ago. I leave the record type shots to others who make a much better job of it than I could. Edited August 22, 2021 by Neil
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted August 22, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 22, 2021 (edited) Not so much stations and their furniture but I went though a phase of clicking away at OLE. Witham , neutral section at a power feed. Boreham, showing the reduced system height to go under a bridge. Just some blighter nicked the bridge. Marks Tey, the mast over the point blades where the Sudbury branch joins the main line. Normally the mast over the point blades are a double cantilever on this one both wires are no the same cantilever. I am not sure I have come across another one. Chelmsford, the start of the Mk1. In the past few years there have been an upgrade to the old converted 1500v DC OLE structures. I am not sure if the start of the Mk1 mast were changed as well, so this might be historical. Harlow, every now and then a photo can be bombed by a train. The heavier than normal mast are on massive foundations as the line is running over drained marsh. Not only the OLE. Witham, the building housing the step down transformers from 132 KV to 25 KV, typical for the Chelmsford to Clacton section of Mk1 OLE. Nearholmer
Some good piccies, which make the point that, even now, maybe especially now, there is more richness and variety in stations than in trains.
RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted August 22, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 22, 2021 I did an impromptu photo bash of Lewes station while waiting for a steam special to come through and I have taken quite a few of Reading's new look architecture. I was asked to take a set of photos of Liverpool Street station just after that had had a major refurb, so my housebound, railway enthusiast Dad could see it. That can be seen at I usually try to get some photos of stations when I am there travelling, especially on heritage lines, as well as locos, trains and other rolling stock. There is a random album of London stations at There are also several albums of heritage railways in my gallery.
Nearholmer
Railway Stations: Southern Region, by Wikeley and Middleton is a good source both for architecture and, now, for period details, because most of the photos were taken in the 1970s. JackWhite
I used to do lots of those photos back in the day....There was something different on those stations that I took picture of. Every place is always different atmosphere and mood. I was thinking about taking pictures from different angles such as from space, airplane etc. Some of the pictures I've done from a helicopter, some of them with the help of caiman camera but all of them are different and great in their own ways. I wish I can revisit those places but time is gone...

spsmiler
To an extent I've been doing this, primarily of the London Underground, although not exclusively. It does seem that sometimes Underground stations (eg:) Barkingside could be said to be better preserved than many mainline / BR / NR stations. Over the past few months I have come to realise that where platform canopy valences still exist the same former GER design exists at stations on both networks (Underground and former GE mainline out of Liverpool St). As yet only a small number of my images are online, I hope to publish many more later this year. What I've done over the past days is publish a few images via twitter, at the links below. Usually as replies to other people's tweets and these also 'show up' below - I have no control over this. Some of these come from when I was a teenager 'many decades ago', others were taken just weeks ago. Simon Edited January 17, 2022 by spsmiler
Hroth
Can't remember where I snapped this motly collection, beyond that it was on a Merseyrail Northern Line station in 1983... This was in my Monochrome phase. I've a feeling that the bin was probably yellow!

Dairy Crunch must have been popular, with two slots vending it!
